A Tree Grows in Brooklyn Response

Strength is a word that everyone in the world that we know it, has to use at some point in their lives. Everyone uses it in their every day lives, they just might not realize it. You have to have at least a bit of it to persevere when the times get tough. Strength is not just measure by the muscle in your body, but by the toughness of your soul.
Strength is something that Francie hasn't quite found out all about it yet. For example when the killer was coming out at her, she didn't have the strength to talk let alone move. She is going to find that strength on her way from innocence to experience. If she doesn't, it could be a tough going later in life when she really needs it.
She has the will to get that little bit of extra strength that she needs but right now, she needs a little help and a push to get her going. She has had to go through many tests of strength already like at school when she got sat in the back. She had to have the strength to get through those tough days. But again, she didn't have enough strength to stick with the school, and again, she needs that little extra push that Sissy gave her because she came in and she was the one who got her to sit in the front.
Francie is one of those persons that needs those people to help her through her struggles and when she is an adult and has children, she isn't going to have those people to help her through her struggles. She will not only have not as many people to help her through her struggles but she is going to have to help her childeren through their struggles.
She is going to have to go through some tough times to put her to the test before she moves all the way to experience because otherwise she might not be able to change her ways that she has been living through all of her years. She is going to have to have the strength to do things on her own that she might not normally do. She must prepare herself for not just the struggles that she has had, but the struggles to come.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn Response

Francie is learning how to have perserverense. She has had to go through hard things already and still has to go through many more. She is begging to learn that to survive in this cruel cruel world, you have to have perserverence. Perserverance is many things including to get through hard times or to stay calm when it is hard not to. She is begging to see the world as it is and not how she would like it to be.
Perserverence is a strong thing in this world and she is finnally learning how to use it to her advantage. If you can't figure out how to use it to your advantage, it will be a rough time and she is figuring that out. She has plenty of perserverevce built inside of her, she just needs to learn when and how to use it. She is very inteligent and has been through many "tests" already including her old school. She went through many rough times in her old school and made it through them.
The one thing that she is not sure about are her abilities. As it said before in the story, the rough and tough kids don't think that she is roudy enough but the kids that are the teacher's pets, don't think that she fits in with them either. She needs to find that inner peace inside her and fit the pieces of the puzzle together and find the pieces that she is missing. Once she can find those extra pieces, she will be more inteligente and have more of the knowledge that will get her through life as we know it.
She still doesn't have what it takes to really persevere as well as she could. She makes it through the tough times but she has a hard time doing that. She still isn't to her full potential and is starting to figure out what she needs to do to get there. She is starting to go through the big change that starts the road form innocense to experience.

Veteran's Day

When is the right time to honor our veterans? Well to me, its all the time. There are national holidays and everything but we don’t appreciate our veterans enough and we don’t realize how much they do for us. They’re all around you. There are millions of former veterans, veterans that are in service right now, and the least of fortunate veterans.
Right now, there are plenty of veterans out there, we just don’t realize it. People in our every-day lives are veterans you just don’t know it. We don’t realize how important these people are to our country. Instead of just one day a year, we should celebrate veterans once a month.
One of the veterans’ toughest things to go through is their flashbacks. War is not a thing that you can get over and the ones that do make it out of war alive are challenged the rest of their lives with flashbacks. Their flashbacks could be something minor like someone getting killed to being a part of the worst days in American history. We don’t realize what these veterans have gone through because we’ve never experienced it and we don’t know what it feels like to see someone die. This is one of the things that we think about the least but it is one of the most tragic.
We don’t realize what these veterans have to go through. It's not just war, it's all the tough things that go on, go along, and go before war. We only think of the things that we hear about. You never hear about the boot camp or the anything else but war but there are many other struggles along with it. You just don't see or hear them.
All in all, veterans should be thanked for their hard work and service to their country. They put in 24 hours a day, seven days a week when they are in service and defending our country. We as the people of the United States of America could never match what they do for us. They are the blood and bones of America and they help form the heart.

The Circuit

Working on a farm is hard but having to move from state to state and city to city is really hard. How about having them both happen to you in a span of about 3 months. That’s is the harshness of the short story “The Circuit” and a boy named Ito. Think about just the hassle with your family having their life’s on the line because they cannot keep a job for 3 months and having to get another job hopefully to them.

There are many references in the book. There is a reference to the Garden of Eden, an angel, a circuit, and the only hope. Now, there are two references that have to deal with religion in the reference to the Garden of Eden and the trumpet. The reference to the Garden of Eden in the story is when they run and hide from the bus. This is just like when Adam and Eve eat the apple and they hear god coming and they run away. If you think about it, it might not just be that they don’t want the bus to see them when it drives by because otherwise, they would have to go to school. It might just be that they are afraid of something and that it leads into something like that they have to move and I think that it referenced to the moving when they ran and hid. This is because when Adam and Eve ran, they were afraid of god.

The other reference that has to do with religion is when Ito wants to learn how to play the trumpet. The reference in this one is that when you see an angel at Christmas time, which is the time of a new life, is a trumpet. The reference in this book to the trumpet could be telling us that Ito could be the family’s only hope which ties in with another question that we ask ourselves, what is the only hope for the family. Since he is the “angel” he could be the family’s only hope in that he gets maybe a job because he goes to school.

The last reference in the book is that of the circuit. This short story is called “The Circuit” is because that a circuit keeps going over and over and over again just like the family and how they keep moving and having to move. A circuit short circuits sometimes and I think that the family is exactly like a circuit unless they can get Ito to school and he can get a job and they can stay in one place for at least two years. That ties with the question, what is their only hope too. Ito is their only hope and I is shown in many ways in that the trumpet, he goes to school, etc.

The story “The Circuit” has plenty of references. Ito is the main character and he is the only hope and if he can’t do anything that is intelligent related, the family is not going to make it far in the cruel world.
